Are these natural pearls?

Are these natural pearls?

Whenever people asked me whether our pearls were real or natural, I always enjoyed sharing what I had learned about such gorgeous materials for jewellery.

Natural pearls refer to those developed in nature without human intervention. Nowadays they are incredibly rare and precious. A notable example is those embedded in the iconic three-strand pearl necklace that King Geoge VI gifted his daughter Queen Elizabeth II.

What we usually find in market today are cultured pearls. While they are 100% real in terms of composition which is the same as natural pearls, they are grown artificially. Thanks to a Japanese entrepreneur Kokichi Mikimoto’s revolutionary idea and technology in creating the first cultured pearl in the late 19th century, we have so many options of pearls in assorted shapes and sizes to choose from.

Now let me show you a selection of hand-picked items from our GOLDIE ABERDEEN freshwater pearl collection.
